The biggest challenge for preserving biodiversity
The preservation of biodiversity has progressively become a key objective for all our sites, in particular our 400 quarries.
Our quarry operators are first in line to take note and understand biodiversity issues on the sites that they supervise. Their involvement, and primarily that of the quarry manager, is essential.
CPIE was chosen as a partner of Eurovia to accompany the deployment of the Ecological Quality Indicator (IQE) on our “Danger” mining site in Vendée. This indicator, developed by the French National Museum of Natural History, is a tool for measuring the biodiversity that allows one to evaluate the species present under several criteria and make recommendations for improvements. Eurovia’s site, one of the first to apply this indicator, has obtained a score of 72/100, with a rating of 10/10 for heritage birds.
