Acquisition of Tarmac

Eurovia today finalised the acquisition of 97 Tarmac quarries in France, Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic. At the request of the national competition authorities, Eurovia is undertaking to divest six quarries in France and three in the Czech Republic.

From October to December 2010, Eurovia will attend several trade shows to present and publicize its innovative products, techniques, and processes. October 12 to 14: World Congress on Emulsions, Lyon. Over 39 countries will be represented at this trade show where Eurovia will operate a kiosk and engage in discussions on the state of the art and innovative techniques with respect to emulsions. October 26 to 28: Interoute & Villes, Metz. Both Eurovia and Signature will attend this trade show, a high-profile event that brings public sector decision-makers and technical experts. November 23 to 25: Salon des maires et des collectivités locales (Trade show for mayors and local communities) in Paris. Eurovia and Signature will greet clients and prospects and showcase their latest innovations. November 30 to December 3: Pollutec in Lyon. Eurovia’s Lyon-based divisions will represent the Company at the Pollutec trade show and present its environmentally friendly products and processes.

    Sud Europe Atlantique high-speed rail line

    Réseau Ferré de France (RFF) has designated LISEA as the concession-holder, with VINCI Concessions as consortium leader, for the Sud Europe Atlantique high-speed rail link. VINCI Construction leads the design-build consortium, which includes Eurovia Infra, Eurovia GPI and ETF-Eurovia Travaux Ferroviaires. This 50-year contract covers funding, design, construction, operation, and maintenance for the 303-km high-speed rail line connecting Tours and Bordeaux. The project includes construction of a 302-km high-speed railway line, 40 km of connecting tracks, 46 million m3 of excavation, 30 million m3 of fill, 415 bridges including 10,000 m of viaducts, 240 hydraulic structures, 684 km of single-line track and 26 km of acoustic screens.

      Along notably with VINCI Construction, Eurovia is part of the consortium led by VINCI Concessions selected for the design-construction mandate for the Grand Ouest Notre-Dame-des-Landes airport, which will integrate all Nantes-Atlantique airlines as of 2017. Its simple and effective design will make Notre-Dame-des-Landes the first airport with a positive energy balance. In addition, VINCI Concessions has been awarded a concession to operate the airports of Nantes-Atlantique and Saint-Nazaire Montoir as of January 1, 2011 as well as design, finance, build, operate, and maintain the new Notre-Dame-des-Landes airport as part of a 55-year concession.

        By-pass extension in Charlotte

        Blythe Construction has been awarded a contract to extend an urban by-pass in Charlotte, North Carolina – the first design-build-finance contract in the region. Worth $140 million, the project calls for the design and construction of an 8-km highway section. Work began in July 2010 and should be completed in December 2014. The project also calls for 3.4 million m³ of fill grading and compaction, the construction of 17 bridges and 5 culverts, and the pouring of 500,000 m² of concrete paving and 225,000 tonnes of asphalt paving. In its bid, Blythe included multiple innovative features, such as a diamond interchange.
