After acquiring NAPC in India at the beginning of 2012, Eurovia encountered difficulties in raising employees’ awareness of health and safety issues. The main reason is that 5,000 of the manual labourers working for the company are day labourers and is not easy to get the company’s prevention messages across. The problem is particularly acute for personal protective equipment (PPE) since it is difficult to check that it is always used.
Given that workplace health and safety tends to be very rudimentary in India, the safety gate is an initial tool for conveying the paramount importance of safety for Eurovia and an important step towards building up a genuine safety culture at NAPC.
