[11/20/2019] Canada (Alberta): widening of the Southwest Anthony Henday Drive

Alberta Transportation is widening approximately 18km of the Southwest Anthony Henday Drive (Edmonton bypass), adding one lane in each direction. This will be constructed as one project from Highway 2 (Calgary Trail) to Whitemud Drive. Carmacks Enterprises Ltd. is the prime contractor for the project.

The contract includes:

  • The widening of three bridge crossings at North Saskatchewan River, Wedgewood Creek and Whitemud Drive.
  • The design and construction of two noise wall.
  • The construction of ten maintenance accesses along Northwest Anthony Henday.

Construction will start this fall and is expected to be open to traffic in fall of 2022.
