Modernisation de l'autoroute D1 entre Prague et Brno

[4/30/2020] Modernisation of D1 motorway between Prague and Brno

In the Czech Republic, Eurovia CS is carrying out upgrade work on the D1 motorway on four sections between Prague and Brno, the country's two main cities.

The work is being carried out in accordance with the Covid-19 coronavirus safe work guidelines implemented by Eurovia and in compliance with Czech authorities’ requirements. Eurovia staff follow social distancing protocols and use specific PPE during operations.

The D1 motorway is the main arterial road in the Czech Republic. Since 2013, the 161 km section between Prague and Brno has been undergoing extensive renovation and widening, requiring the demolition and reconstruction of all motorway interchanges and the modification of all bridges along the route, as well as a complete resurfacing of the road. Work is scheduled for completion in the autumn of 2021. The Czech Roads and Motorways Directorate has subdivided this large-scale project into 20 different sections.

Eurovia CS has already completed 8 sections representing 67.6 km, or more than a third of the total length of the highway, and has successively begun work on 4 of the 7 sections scheduled for completion in 2020:

  • Section 10 in Humpolec with the demolition of two viaducts
  • Section 16 in Velký Beranov (km 119 to 134).
  • Section 2 to Prague (km 21 to 29).
  • Section 7 between Soutice and Loket (km 56 to 66).
