Germany - Remodeling of the Marburg station forecourt

On February 10th the second phase of construction for the remodeling of the Marburg station forecourt started. A consortium consisting of the subsidiary Bauwerksinstandsetzung (EUROVIA Beton) and the subsidiary Weimar (EUROVIA VBU) is going to reconstruct the Elisabeth bridge and the ramps to the near-by B3 during this phase. It is planned to finish work in late December 2012. The city of Marburg invests in the remodeling of the station forecourt, including new road layouts. The construction work will not only lead to a substantial upgrading of the station area, but also increase the attractiveness of the entire north district of Marburg.

    Germany - Groundbreaking for new technical center of the Leipziger Verkehrsbetriebe GmbH

    On April 2nd the groundbreaking ceremony for a new technical center concerning public transportation was held in Leipzig. After 80 years with its old location the transport company Leipziger Verkehrsbetriebe GmbH is having a completely new center for modern mobility constructed until fall 2013. The subsidiaries Leipzig and Dresden (EUROVIA VBU GmbH) are charged with the renovation of the entire infrastructure in the area of the technical center and the adjacent Tesla Street. After completion the technical center as a location for the technical service of the public transportation system in Leipzig will completely take over the maintenance, repair and overhaul of the modern low-floor tram fleet.

    Romania – New wind-turbine project

    On February 15, Viarom signed a contract with GDF Suez Energy to build a wind farm located at Gemenele in the province of Brăila, in southeastern Romania. Work teams will build 15.5 km of paths and foundations and install wiring for 21 wind turbines. The project calls for the construction of 25,900 m² of platforms, excavation of 29,300 m³of soil, and implementation of 29,000 m³ of concrete. Work will begin on March 1 and should be completed in June.

      United States - Renovating 48 km of Davidson County roads

      Teams at Blythe Construction, located in Charlotte, have just been awarded a contract to resurface approximately 48 km of roads in Davidson County. Work should begin in March, with completion set for October 31, 2012.
