United-Kingdom - PFI with Isle of Wight

A consortium consisting of VINCI Concessions and Ringway has been selected by the Isle of Wight Council as the preferred bidder for a 25-and-a-half-year Private Finance Initiative (PFI) contract calling for the renovation and maintenance of a 821-km roadway network. The contract, which has been submitted for approval to Great Britain’s Ministry of Transport, is set to start in April 2013. This is the second successful PFI bid for roadway renovation and maintenance for VINCI Concessions and Ringway in the U.K., following the Hounslow PFI scheme in London in early 2012.

    Ringway has won the Gold Award

    For the 10th year in a row, Ringway has won the Gold Award for Occupational Health and Safety from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA). Ringway’s ongoing efforts to improve occupational health and safety management were rewarded with the prestigious President’s Award. Ringway also received a RoSPA Gold Award in the “Managing Occupation Road Risk” category for its implementation of the Vigiroute solution, which is designed to reduce road-related risk. Its 2011 “Drive for Life” awareness campaign was undeniably successful in reducing the number of road-related incidents.

      Eurovia strengthens its position in Quebec

      Through its subsidiary, Construction DJL, Eurovia has just acquired Pavage Rolland Fortier, a road-building company based in Quebec City. This acquisition allows Construction DJL to position itself in Quebec City, which is a dynamic market, and to offer services across the province of Quebec as a whole. Established over 50 years ago, Pavage Rolland Fortier operates two asphalt-production plants on Quebec’s North Shore and also has its own sources of aggregate materials. Its main clients are the Quebec ministry of transport and the municipality of Quebec City; it also serves a number of private clients.

      Germany - Remodeling of the Marburg station forecourt

      On February 10th the second phase of construction for the remodeling of the Marburg station forecourt started. A consortium consisting of the subsidiary Bauwerksinstandsetzung (EUROVIA Beton) and the subsidiary Weimar (EUROVIA VBU) is going to reconstruct the Elisabeth bridge and the ramps to the near-by B3 during this phase. It is planned to finish work in late December 2012. The city of Marburg invests in the remodeling of the station forecourt, including new road layouts. The construction work will not only lead to a substantial upgrading of the station area, but also increase the attractiveness of the entire north district of Marburg.
