Our Safety Challenge is designed to mobilize all personnel by showing that our zero-accident objective is attainable and that the notion that accidents are inevitable must be banned from our minds. The Challenge targets positive results in efforts to reduce the incidence of accidents in the workplace.
The Challenge is a permanent feature: whenever an accident occurs, it comes immediately into play in efforts to sustain employee motivation. Divisions must do their utmost to achieve zero accidents with no downtime over a pre-established period for all employees based on an equation that takes into account the size of its workforce (between 300 and 850 days). The objective and the remaining number of accident-free days to complete to meet the Challenge are known to all: it is displayed on the Safety Board at the entrance of the division and on the intranet.
Every employee who achieves the objective within the division receives a “Louis d’or” (gold coin).
