Eurovia worked on the Saint Etienne light rail extension project, the first line of which was inaugurated in 1882. The work consisted in building a second line to connect the Place du Peuple with the Châteaucreux TGV train station and in rebuilding a part of the existing line between the Place du Peuple and the Tréfilerie university site.
Eurovia teams worked on three of the five works packages awarded, carrying out the preparatory work (earthmoving, multi-tube pipe laying and foundation concrete for the track pavement support) and surfacing the 3.3 km long pavement support. Meanwhile, they completely replaced the asphalt mix sidewalks and pavements alongside the tracks over half the length of the line. Last but not least, a team of flagstone pavers is now working on the square in front of the Châteaucreux station to round the project, which is scheduled for completion in June, by supplying and laying nearly 5,500 m_ of granite slabs in three colours.
