At the end of 2004, Eurovia issued Papyrus® tablets to all its foremen working in France and it is currently continuing to deploy the system outside France. The Papyrus® system combines a mobile communications tool with a data management and transmission system enabling data to be uploaded to the company information system. Papyrus® was designed by Eurovia to enhance the responsiveness, productivity and efficiency of its foremen on the ground - and, more broadly, its entire operational staff.
The project gives each foreman a PC tablet, a mobile IT tool suitable for use outdoors on worksites. The tablet has the usual office software and in addition it uses worksite management software specially designed by Eurovia. The software enables each foreman to draft his daily report and worksite log and upload them to the company's central information system via a secure GPRS link. In this way, the foreman can log onto the Intranet and use his business e-mail system wherever he happens to be.
The jobs of worksite management staff at Eurovia are thus enhanced and consolidated. Papyrus® offers them broad access to the full range of Eurovia's resources. Papyrus® strengthens the efficiency of Eurovia's teams on the ground and throughout the company.
