Road accidents account for over 60% of work-related fatalities at Eurovia, as in other companies. An analysis of the "traffic risk" within Eurovia showed that two accidents out of three could have been avoided by the company's drivers. This observation prompted the development of a specific accident prevention plan, Vigiroute®. Based on the principle that driver training must be ongoing and that attention must be regularly drawn to a number of basic rules, Eurovia designed the plan for its entire experienced driver staff, to remind them that vigilance must never slacken at the wheel.

In March 2003, Eurovia signed a partnership Charter based on Vigiroute® with the government. The Charter commits Eurovia to reducing the number of accidents caused by its employees by 30% in three years. With this Charter, Eurovia has made a commitment to sharing the experience and the expertise with as broad an audience as possible. This act of corporate citizenship is particularly appropriate in that Eurovia, which designs and builds roads throughout the world, is engaged in its day-to-day work in providing road users with comfortable and safe pavements.
