Czech Republic: Detour of a Dangerous Road in the Southeast
On March 16, the Eurovia Cs teams started building the Vizovice–Lhotsko segment of Route I/49 (southeastern Czech Republic). Following the creation of a 2.34-km long detour, the Lhotsko Region will have considerable less road traffic in the future. The region’s safety will be clearly improved in that the current itinerary is not safe for passing given the narrowness of the road. In bad weather, especially in the winter, the situation becomes even more complicated. Overall, the existing route considerably limits traffic flow, especially for truck traffic. The detour route was chosen to go around the current residential areas.
Work will be completed in March 2017.
