Upgrades to the České Budějovice to Nemanice rail link completed
In April 2014, the Czech Republic’s rail infrastructure management authority and Eurovia CS have marked the completion of the České Budějovice–Nemanice rail link upgrade project. This 3-year initiative, which targeted a 2.62-kilometre section, is part of a European railway modernization endeavour.
The project has helped to enhance rail safety and increase track speed. New safety and communications equipment was installed. Other equipment was upgraded. In addition, level crossings were either eliminated or altered. The quality of services provided to users was also enhanced thanks to renovations to platforms at train stations, improved access for users with reduced mobility, and the implementation of new information and navigation systems.
In closing, the most significant change made to this rail link was the doubling of tracks on overpasses above Skuherskeho and Pekárenská Streets.
