Infrastructure works at the Dunkirk cross-Channel terminal
Eurovia STR Dunkerque has just been awarded an access infrastructure redevelopment mandate at the cross-Channel terminal for grand port maritime de Dunkerque (the port authority in Dunkirk, France).
DFDS Seaways operates a ferry service from Dunkirk port to Dover port with three car-ferries conveying light vehicles, lorries, two-wheeled vehicles as well as drivers and passengers.
As part of a plan to improve operations at the Dunkirk cross-Channel terminal, DFDS and the Dunkirk port authority engaged in discussion aimed at reducing vessel loading and unloading time; streamlining safety procedures at the entrance to the terminal; improving motorway access to the terminal; enhancing traffic conditions, safety, parking, and passenger and vehicle reception services.
Consequently, a decision was made to build a new access road on an available platform at the entrance to the site. This platform will encompass all vehicle and passenger registration and monitoring facilities.
