Lithuania: delivery of the largest port terminal in the Baltics
The official launch of the Klaipėda port terminal in Lithuania (on the Baltic Sea) was held in June. Up to 3 merchant or passenger ships can dock at the same time at this terminal, which is the most technologically advanced in the Baltic states. This new facility is designed to accommodate 500,000 passengers and process 5 million tonnes of roll-on/roll-off freight annually. The launch ceremony was attended by the Prime Minister of Lithuania, the Minister of Transport, the Mayor of Klaipėda, and the executive director of the city’s port authority. Audronius Šereika, the manager of the recently created Klaipėda sector at Eurovia Lithuania, was rewarded by the port authority for the quality of the work conducted by Eurovia by being invited to join these distinguished guests for the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Eurovia Lithuania’s main task on this project was to build Baltic Avenue, a new access road to the port facility. Along with the construction of this 756-metre roadway, Eurovia Lithuania also installed new drainage and lighting systems. The project was completed in late June 2014.
