Jacques Cartier Bridge
Construction DJL’s Montreal division has resurfaced the deck on Jacques Cartier Bridge in both directions; the work was carried out over two weekends. This project was a real challenge with a work schedule consisting of only 2 periods of 54 hours each in which 5,200 tonnes of asphalt were poured over a 3-km roadway span (52,000 m²).
In efforts to reduce the impact on traffic, the Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated requested that the work be conducted only over the two weekends during the construction industry holiday, namely, from July 22 to 24 and July 28 to 30, 2012.
Following the development of a test bed, 120 DJL Construction employees worked on this project, including teams from the Mauricie, Outaouais, Montreal’s South Shore, and Haute-Yamaska regions as well as from Quebec City and DJL Technologies. A number of subcontractors as well as the Company’s plant and laboratory staff also took part in the project.
