The launch of the new Hounslow roadway project took place in early January 2013 with Hounslow Councillors Jagdish Sharma and Colin Ellar in attendance.
Since March 2012, Hounslow Highways Services (a partnership between VINCI Concessions, Ringway, and Barclays Infrastructure Funds) has been preparing, in collaboration with the London Borough of Hounslow, this initial PFI (Private Finance Initiative) designed to renovate and maintain the borough’s roads, including 432 kilometres of roadway and 763 kilometres of footpaths.
Construction and renovation of roadways and footpaths should be completed in 2018. In the first 2 years of the project, some 16,000 street lights will be replaced with LED lights, which consume less energy and reduce carbon footprint. Special attention will be devoted to improving and cleaning the borough’s streets and renewing urban structures.
