With nearly 210 quarries world-wide producing 55 million tonnes of aggregates every year, Eurovia has made materials production into its second business line..
Eurovia's close-knit network of solid (igneous, limestone) rock and loose (alluvial, sand) rock quarries gives the company access to a wide range of materials and enables it to meet its customers' needs (building and civil engineering companies, mineral industries, private individuals, etc.). Carrying out certification programmes and building on the company's technical network, the operators of the various Eurovia sites offer high-quality materials approved for all types of construction projects. In addition, through broader service offerings (delivery, disposal of inert waste, among other things) each of Eurovia's sites adapts its activity to the local context.
Pursuing its commitment to conserving natural resources, Eurovia has also developed expertise in the production of recycled materials. It has 110 industrial by-product (household waste bottom ash, demolition concrete, coal schist, etc.) recycling facilities produce seven million tonnes of materials per year. This alternative source of materials is especially useful in regions where there is a scarcity of natural resources.
Taking a sustainable development approach, Eurovia has set up continuous improvement programmes at all its production sites, which are aimed at blending the sites into their natural and social environment. It considers quarries as a temporary phenomenon in the life of the region, and following consultations with the various stakeholders its subsidiaries undertake a variety of redevelopment projects at sites during and after their exploitation. Sites are developed into recreational areas, agricultural areas or nature reserves.
