Pologne : reconstruction d’un important point de passage entre l’Union européenne et l’Ukraine

[10/8/2020] Poland: rebuilding a key crossing point between the European Union and Ukraine

Eurovia Polska will rebuild a 7-kilometre segment of national route number 28 located between Przemyśl and Medyka. This carriageway is a strategic transport route since it is a key crossing point between the European Union and Ukraine. The border post at Medyka-Szeginie is the only pedestrian border crossing between Ukraine and southeast Poland.

This project will improve traffic conditions and road safety for all users of the last unrenovated section of the roadway leading to the border post. The mandate includes widening the 2-lane roadway in both directions: 500 metres before the border, the roadway leading to Ukraine will be widened to 4 lanes and later an additional 5th lane for vehicles awaiting border control.

The wearing course will be reinforced to withstand traffic volume, crossroads will be widened, footways, bicycle paths, and bus lanes will be built along with vehicle-weighing and inspection stations.

Works will be conducted over a 19-month period – excluding a winter break.
