États-Unis : le chantier de l’extension sud-est de l’autoroute N.C. 540 - Triangle Expressway passe un cap

[6/19/2020] United States: the NC540-Triangle Expressway Southeast Extension project reaches a milestone

In 2018, Blythe Construction (a subsidiary of Eurovia in North Carolina), in consortium with the Lane Construction Corporation, was awarded a design-build contract for the NC540 - Triangle Expressway Southeast Extension in Raleigh, North Carolina, the state’s capital and second-largest city.

The year 2020 began well with much progress achieved on the project: teams cleared construction zones and built facilities designed to control erosion and sedimentation so as to ease the channelling of stormwater around two critical junctions between NC540 and I-40 (an east-to-west interstate highway). Teams also began driving piles and building substructures for the first of the 28 bridges included in this project that covers a distance of 13.7 kilometres.

This major project, which is designed to extend the Triangle Expressway and link US 401 and I-40, is part of a larger undertaking, known as ‘Complete 540’, which will relieve traffic congestion in the highway network around Raleigh (a city with a population of nearly half a million).
