bridge-strengthening campaign

In early May 2011, Société Corse Travaux (Eurovia) launched a 6-month campaign designed to strengthen bridges on the road network operated by Conseil Général de Corse-du-Sud in Corsica. These vintage structures, which are an integral part of the island's architectural heritage, display specific and recurring problems, such as fissures, fractures, disjointed masonry, cavitation, and detached arches and bulkheads. The campaign is designed to repair and reinforce these structures. An unusual feature of this type of project is that it requires acrobatic techniques to access hard-to-reach work areas. Consequently, Société Corse Travaux is employing qualified personnel with experience in rope access techniques on this mandate as well as situation-specific drilling and projection equipment.
